These natural chalk colors are suitable for coloring surfaces, but you can also use them to color candy fondant, marzipan, cream, or sponge cake. Since they are natural in character and do not contain chemical colorant dyes, the resulting shade is less intense – with these colors you achieve more earthy tones, not loud, strong pastel hues. Use for coloring surfaces: The color can be applied only with a spatula, or sponge on the surface, i.e. dry. In this case we do not apply a large amount of color to one spot; the dry color does not absorb and would accumulate – if you already apply color in larger quantities, simply blow it off lightly. The shades will be very delicate. If we want to achieve more intense color, dilute a small amount of color powder with a drop of water, or pure alcohol – some shades are more saturated when water is used. If you really use water, beware of applying to fondant that does not tolerate any moisture and the surface could start to spread and ooze, or even run. If you use really a small amount of water, the color dries and the resulting effect looks similar to painting with nail polish – the colors are even after drying, they look really nice. The colors can also be used for candy fondant or marzipan, just gradually add a small amount of powder while kneading the mass – the shade will become lively and gradually during kneading will merge into one shade. The resulting color is not so intense – in some cases a couple pigmented specks may appear, unmixed color. A more intense shade would be if the color is again diluted with water; if you have no experience, we do not recommend this procedure, because the masses are very prone to any moisture – dilution must be really small. You can try such a procedure for coloring the sponge cake or sponge mass. Again we must emphasize that these are natural colors and the resulting effect may not have as much intensity as when using gel colors. These chalk natural colors are intended for those who like naturally earthy shades. In the picture there are roses, one is white sugar mass colored only with this chalk color – undiluted. On colored discs you can see the difference when we apply color with a spatula on the surface – here the color is diluted only lightly with water.
